Make
an Impact
There are many ways you can contribute to Hands Across Canberra and it’s network of community organisations. You can give your time and talent through volunteering, attending events, spreading the word about the work of organisations, or running fund-raising events and activities. There are also a range of ways to donate funds, such as directly through one-off donations, regular contributions such as workplace giving programs or by participating in fund-raising activities and events.

Community
Grants
Hands Across Canberra is working with Canberran charitable organisations and social enterprises to improve the lives of disadvantaged and vulnerable people in our city. To help our large community sector get access to much needed funds Hands Across Canberra raises money which is then allocated to those community organisations doing great work with our most vulnerable people.
Our
Partners
By leveraging our extensive and growing networks, we bring people together. Collaboration and partnering are fundamental to our work, and Hands Across Canberra has many supporters who play a key role in our success. They know that investing in Canberra’s community benefits us all. We could not accomplish our goals without the support, involvement and enthusiasm of our committed partners.

Who
We Are
Hands Across Canberra is the National Capital’s leading community foundation. Since 2010, it has been working with local not-for-profit organisations to raise awareness in the community. It has been an enabler for innovative partnerships and collaboration and has worked hard to increase the level of giving and philanthropy in Canberra.
Yesterday at the National Arboretum Canberra, we and community members celebrated Peter Gordon, our former Hands Across Canberra CEO, for his leadership at the helm of this much-loved organisation.
A warm-hearted group of charities and organisations gathered at the National Arboretum to honour Peter’s work with the dedication of a Mesa Oak tree in the beautiful little forest near the village centre.
Greg Boorer, Chair of Hands Across Canberra, spoke of Peter’s outstanding efforts over the past 12 years in establishing the foundation and building solid relationships between the corporate and charity sectors.
As always, Canberra’s hard-working charities were at the forefront of Greg’s appreciation and Peter’s humble response. Members of the group came forward to commend Peter for “putting them on the map” and inspiring the generosity of our city to keep them going for the people in need.
Thank you, Peter Gordon! As it grows, this solid young tree will remind the people of Canberra that we can all make a massive difference in the lives of others. … See MoreSee Less

“It was time,” Mr Gordon said. “Organisations always have a group of people that start it, but the people who take it to the next level and beyond are normally not the founders. It’s the right time for me to hand over.
